SunGhosts

With inspirations ranging from alternative rock, to surf rock, to late-Beatles-esque psychedelia, SunGhosts mixes up these diverse genres to create a unique style redefining the sound of Miami. Their inspired songwriting, explosive, live performances and controlled chaos prove irresistible to fans from diverse backgrounds and generations.

SunGhosts was formed in 2013 when the four members met in college. Nik Olas, Arminio Rivero, Jared Steingold and Luis Estopinan all had two things in common: Miami roots and an intense passion for music. Once they started playing music together and expanding on Nik’s compositions, the band just took off. Nik has a knack not only for writing catchy melodies, but also a vision for every element of the song. A bonafide auteur, Nik has every detail of each song laid out in his head, and in his little black book where he scribbles lyrics, drawings, meanings and feelings. While the melodies tend to have an upbeat and uplifting vibe, he explores some serious issues. “Meet me at the Rainbow Bridge” follows a child coping with the loss of a dear family pet. In “Noonshine,” the struggle between the safety and security of the past and the unknown opportunity that can be unlocked by a leap of faith. "'Til The City Goes Under,” reveals a love and sense of preservation for their hometown in the face of transient residents and rising sea levels.

Named Best Band in Miami in 2015 by the readers of the Miami New Times, SunGhosts will release its first, full-length album in August 2016. The album was recorded at Cutting Cane Studios in Davie, Florida, and is produced by two-time Grammy-winning producer Joel Someillan. The band will be heading on tour this fall for their ‘Magical Mischief Tour 2016’ to spread their form of ‘sun-drenched garage rock’ throughout the East Coast.

The Furies

(facebook)

Hailing from all over the country but converging in Providence, Boston, and New York City, The Furies are a band apart. The all female group combines lyrical finesse with instrumental prowess, mixing infectious hooks and lush harmonies that draw from wide influences; Jeff Buckley, Regina Spektor and Led Zeppelin, to name a few. Not just a rock band; but a collaborative of songwriters, composers, and multi-instrumentalists, The Furies are carving out a name all their own and much like their namesake, they mean business.

The last two years have been a time of manifestation for the unqiue group. Lead singer Lee Moretti began her career as Third Eye Blind's multi-instrumentalist and background vocalist, an experience that continues to inform her leadership. Having raised over $10,000 through crowdfunding campaigns, the band toured the Northeast, the south, and the midwest and had the opportunity to share the stage with the likes of The Ataris, Big Scary, and many others. In addition, The Furies independently released their debut EP and music video. Truly a labor of love, the band chose to work closely with amazing production talent, recording with Dave Minehan (The Replacements, The Neighborhoods), owner of Wooly Mammoth Sound, and mixing with Sean Beresford (Third Eye Blind, Vanessa Carlton).

The Furies EP "Omens," was released in November of 2015 to rave reviews and continue to receive praise, including ranking in the top five of The Telegram's "Best New England Albums of 2015." The EP is a collection of vignettes reflecting on courage, loss, and discovering light in the darkest places.

"On a night when everything on stage was good, it took a tremendous push of energy to finish out on a high note, and the Furies didn't disappoint. The all-female band puts forward flat-out rock 'n' roll that both feels contemporary and blisters with hooks and propulsion.. It was a powerhouse finish.."

Their third release, Weekend has garnered the attention of outlets such as top New England music blogs, numerous college radio stations, and most notably, CBS Connecticut, who named VHS one of the state's top 5 bands to watch in 2015. The album has also earned the band top prizes at New London's Whalie Awards (Best Indie Band, Rock Album of the Year) and the Connecticut Music Awards (Best Punk Band). Straight to VHS will release a new EP, Landmind, in June 2016.
